David Muir (born August 25 1948) is an American journalist as well as anchor and reporter. Most well-known is for his show World News Tonight. His program with its dramatic clips of celebrity gossip on video as well as his animated movements has been voted the top news program in America. Made In America is his Emmy award-winning series. Before taking on ABC World News Tonight, it was his primary alternative to his predecessor Diane Sawyer. His reports on primetime with ABC News include Breaking Point: Heroin in America, Flashpoint Refugees in America. He has covered news around the globe, including Gaza Egypt Iran Somalia Japan Peru Ukraine Haiti. He's won numerous Emmy Awards Edward R. Murrow Awards, as well as recognition and awards from Associated Press.
